  1. Take that palette over the rainbow

  3. In our last tip, we showed you how to recolour the wallpaper 
  4. bitmaps that come with Windows 95: Open the file in Paint, 
  5. save it under a new name, and start recolouring. You'll notice, 
  6. however, that when you open some of the wallpaper 
  7. bitmaps, a very limited color palette appears. If you want 
  8. more color options, save the file as a 256-Colour Bitmap.

  10. In Paint, open a bitmap with a limited palette, such as 
  11. Bubbles.BMP. Choose Save As under the File menu, select 
  12. 256-Colour Bitmap in the Save as type drop-down list, give 
  13. the file a new name, and click Save. Now select Save As 
  14. under the File menu one more time, and click Save. (Don't 
  15. ask us why--you need to do this to get the colours to show up 
  16. in the palette.) You'll now have a much larger palette from 
  17. which to choose. Happy recolouring!
